Day 83

Day 83 – December 5th, 2017

Two months until my birthday!! Feel free to send snacks or presents… kidding.. well mostly kidding.

The past few days have been kind of slow for me. Well, slow may not be the word.. umm I guess you could just say they haven’t been as schedule oriented.

Sunday I didn’t go to the interior for the discipleships I do there. Derek and Lauren had their plates extremely full; the van broke down, Madison was sick and in the hospital, etc. So, Michelle and I stayed home Sunday night to watch Rosie and Violet while Derek and Lauren handled some things.

Good news is Madison came home from the hospital Sunday night and she is feeling much better. Bad news is the van is still broken down. We need lots of prayers for the van!!!

Sunday night, Rosie cuddled with me on the couch and we watched a movie. Unfortunately, we’ve both come down with some sort of head cold. Some of that has been going around in the team- sore throat, cough, etc. Mrs. Lauren thinks it is because it is starting to cool down here. It’s still in the 70s or low 80s, but the wind has cooled down a lot.

Yesterday, which was Monday and our free day, I stayed in bed all day not feeling well. And then today, I stayed home from Pepe. Still not feeling 100% so prayers needed please!

I went to Portuguese class. I had a bit of a frustrating class. I kept making simple mistakes on things I already know. But I will take up for myself a bit and say that the verbs “estar” and “ser” can be very confusing. If you don’t believe me, I’ll send you some worksheets on them and lets see how you do.

Still not feeling well, I did go to our basketball ministry bible study. Ashlyn is right when she says every time she dreads going somewhere it always ends up being way better than expected. Tonight it was a bit chilly out and there were some little girls whose clothes just weren’t enough for the cold. So, I went and sat and cuddled with them. I love that the kids here will just love on you without a second thought. And they have no idea how much it meant to me for them to just let me love on them.

I’ve also officially been here for 1/3 of the trip. Doesn’t that sound crazy?? I feel like we just got here 3 weeks ago. Some days, I hope time keeps going by this fast. Other days it really hits me how much of my heart I will be leaving here.

  1. Sorry you are not feeling good and the van is broken down. Sounds like the kind of luck we have at home. Glad you have people to love you and make you feel special

  2. Missing you back home but so glad for God’s healing power for you and the team. I’m glad you like the new Pepe! Know you are a blessing to those kids! I love you!
